Detroit Promise is a citywide initiative focused on helping Detroit high school graduates access higher education and career training opportunities. Their mission is rooted in equity, making sure Detroit students have the support and resources they need to succeed after graduation. What’s especially meaningful is that Detroit Promise focuses on community. This program was designed with Detroit families in mind, recognizing both the challenges and the incredible potential of our city’s students.
Services
Detroit Promise provides tuition‑free associate degrees at participating community colleges and tuition assistance toward bachelor’s degrees at select four‑year universities. Detroit Promise partners with more than 30 Michigan colleges and universities, giving seniors a wide range of options as they decide what path feels right for their future. Beyond tuition, many students also receive access to success coaches who help guide them through the college process, from enrollment to graduation.
As a parent, I know how overwhelming senior year can feel. Having a program that supports students step by step can be a huge relief, especially when everything seems to be happening at once.
